Create and deploy a monitoring platform for an IT infrastructure

EklaWeb is a young web agency created in 2009. Our main product is EklaBlog, an innovative blog platform.
The team is composed of 6 persons (4 developers, 1 graphical designer and a Traffic Manager).

I am the co-founder of EklaWeb, but I’m currently studying in Centrale Nantes, so I’ll be around during the Web-SD semester.

EklaBlog currently runs on 4 production servers (2 front servers, and 2 SQL servers),
we also have one backup server and one  development server.

With more than 100,000 visits every day, EklaBlog cannot afford to be down too often.
We also host different websites for clients and guarantee a 99,9% uptime.

The current monitoring system is email-based and works fine, but is not fine-grained,
and cannot be extended (to issue alarms via text messages for instance,
or to filter alerts depending on the date/time, etc…).

There are different open source tools available (such as Nagios or Zabbix).
The aim is to chose the platform that best fits our needs, to configure it (and maybe to write a few plugins),
and to deploy it on our servers.

This project will give the ability to use enterprise-standard monitoring tools
on a real-world product that is used by thousands of users every day.

Feel free to contact me if you need additional information,
I’ll be happy to discuss this project (I spend most of my time in the D02 room).
